This presentation will explain emergency changes made to the 2017 edition of NFPA 25 because of the potential safety hazards from a phenomenon known as arc flash that occurs when opening up an energized electric fire pump controller. There are also similar TIAs for the 2011 and 2014 editions of NFPA 25 which covers most of the adopted editions. These changes affect both NFPA 25 and NFPA 72 inspectors and technicians.
The attendee will come away with a better knowledge of arc flash and the potential safety hazard that exists when opening energized electric fire pump controllers. Changes to three editions of NFPA 25 will be understood and the impact they have on inspecting and testing electric fire pumps.
