WHAT DO YOU GET FOR YOUR ASCET MEMBERSHIP DUES
Membership in the American Society of Certified Engineering Technicians provides a number of benefits. ASCET continues to broaden its services each year, and below are listed the current professional and personal opportunities offered to members.
- INFORMATION - Your bi-monthly publication, Certified Engineering Technician Magazine, keeps you up-to-date with articles of professional and personal interest, technical book reviews, computer technology, as well as news of our Society and its members. The ASCET National Office operates Monday through Friday during normal business hours (9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern time). Call (601)643-9079.
- NICET CERTIFICATION RENEWAL - As of January 1, 1996, certificants have three year periods to accumulate the 90 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points required for recertification. Being an active ASCET member can earn up to 45 of these points.
- ASSOCIATIONS - Meet other members of your profession at chapter, regional, and national meetings who can help you reach your career goals. Help to make future citizens by working with ASCET student chapter members. You will also have the opportunity to broaden your personal horizons by serving with engineers, scientists, and other technicians and technologists on the various joint committees which are frequently formed by groups of other societies to tackle a common problem.
- CONTINUING EDUCATION - Take advantage of upcoming educational opportunities offered nationally and published in each issue of CET Magazine. Attend seminars offered at the ASCET Annual Meeting. Seek out the chapters offering training programs for technicians and technologists wishing to continue their professional development.
- STUDENT FINANCIAL AID - ASCET sponsors student chapters in high schools, colleges, and universities nationwide and annually awards the Joseph M. Parish and Joseph C. Johnson Memorial Grants of $500 and $750, respectively, to students enrolled in engineering technology programs. Small cash grants of $100 are also available. Call the ASCET Office for information.

- INVESTMENT PROGRAMS - GoldPortfolio Deposit Accounts consists of two FDIC-insured deposit products: the GoldSavers Money Market Account and the GoldCertificate CD. For information, please call the MBNA Investor Services Department at 800/900-6705 and identify yourself as an ASCET member.

- UNITED TEACHER ASSOCIATES INSURANCE COMPANY (UTA) - offers a First Diagnosis Lump Sum Cancer Policy and a First Diagnosis Heart Attack Policy payment up to $50,000 cash, depending on the amount chosen at time of enrollment. - EMPLOYMENT REFERRAL SERVICE - This free member service attempts to place members seeking employment with companies seeking employees. Lists of potential employees and employers are published in most issues of CET Magazine and on the website.
