ASCET - NICET Liaison

These six ASCET members represent our organization as voting members of the NICET Board of Governors.

The National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) Board of Governors (BOG) is composed of an eight member board. There are 3 Engineers, 3 Technicians, 1 Technologist, and 1 member at large. The board members are selected from all the different regions of the United States. Mike Clark from Mannassas, Virginia is the General Manager of NICET and coordinates all of the meetings. NICET's corporate office is located in Alexandria, VA.

The BOG meets twice a year, normally in March and October, at various locations around the United States. The next BOG meeting will be held in Albuqueque, New Mexico on October 5, 6, and 7. The March 2007 meeting location has not been finalized yet.

Wayne Moore, P.E., from Warwick, Rhode Island
Will Rivers, Technologist, from Charleston, South Carolina
Lori Allison, Technician, from Tempe, Arizona
Philip Gaughan, Technician, from Wildwood, New Jersey
Leo Saenz, Technician, from Austin, Texas, and
Danada McMurtry, Member at Large, from Jackson, Mississippi

Members are selected for either one or two 3 year terms and their terms are staggered so that the board always has someone with experience when new members are selected to begin their terms.

The BOG oversees the budget and makes decisions on items which affect the overall operations of the organization. Daily operation of NICET is left to Mike Clark and his staff.

NICET and ASCET have enjoyed a long mutually fulfilling relationship since ASCET began in 1964. The current BOG is made up of six ASCET members, and Mike Clark is a member of ASCET as well. A large proportion of ASCET members have their certification through NICET, and NICET has always promoted ASCET to all of their certificants.

The NICET officers for FY 2006 - 07 are as follows: BOG Chair is Wayne Moore. Leo Saenz is the Vice Chair, and James Wathem is the Recording Secretary. The BOG members select a new Recording Secretary each year and Officers are selected alternatively between an Engineer and a Technician to keep a healthy balance.
